Easy oat slice for your next playdate

There are some foods that are just nostalgic. This oat slice recipe is one of those, and it is super easy to make, so easy in fact, that it says so in the title. This recipe is loaded with oats which fills children up and gives them fuel for the day. But what we love most about this recipe it contains no eggs, which makes it a great choice when you are a feeding a crowd. It slices up into squares too which makes it perfect for lunchboxes or snacks on the go.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oats 
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup/honey 
  • 1/2 cup wholemeal flour 
  • 1/2 cup coconut 
  • 125g margarine 
  • 1 cup milk 
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda 
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder 

Method

  1. Melt margarine and maple syrup together in a saucepan. 
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl then add melted margarine and maple syrup/honey 
  3. Mix well and spread in a lamington pan 
  4. Bake at 180C for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown 
  5. Cut into squares or bars while still warm
