Sultana Thanawala

Sultana is an Early Childhood Professional who commenced working in the early childhood sector in 2007. Sultana is an Early Childhood Teacher and holds the qualification of Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood from Charles Sturt University.

Sultana is an experienced educator who has worked in a variety of roles and child care settings and has worked with children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds in supported environments. After spending the majority of her career teaching in early childhood, Sultana took a promotion to the position of Director at Westmead Early Education Centre in February 2014.

As the Director and Educational Leader for Westmead Early Education Centre, Sultana enjoys collaborating with her team to create partnerships with families in striving to develop an environment that meets the children’s needs and interests. She has a passionate belief in providing a welcoming, safe and supported environment to provide the children with the best possible start in life. Sultana embraces the findings of Reggio Emilia that ‘the environment is the third teacher’.  Children learn not only from themselves and educators but also from the environment which surrounds them. This is one of the many reasons why Sultana chose to teach and direct at Westmead Early Education Centre!
